Web Accessibility Guidelines

We want everyone who visits the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding. This site is designed to be accessible to a variety of users with differing needs. Web accessibility ensures access to the web for everyone, regardless of disability. Visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive or neurological impairments can all affect access to the web.

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended in 1998, requires that individuals with disabilities have access to and use of information and data that is comparable to those who are not individuals with disabilities, unless an undue burden would be imposed.

To help us make the ACPS website a positive place for everyone, we've been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone. The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We’ve chosen Level AA as the target for the ACPS website.

We monitor the website regularly to maintain this level of accessibility, but if you do find any problems, please get in touch.
