Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)

Promoting progress with MTSS

MacArthur Elementary School uses a problem solving model called Multi-Tiered System of Support. MTSS is a process designed to address the needs of all students and is intended as an early intervention to prevent long-term academic failure. The MTSS Team meets on a regular basis to offer assistance to students, teachers and parents regarding student success here at school.

MTSS is a multi-step process of providing instruction and support to promote the academic and behavioral success of all children. Individual children’s progress is monitored and results are used to make decisions about further instruction and intervention.

MTSS is most commonly used in addressing reading, math and behavior, but it can also be used in other areas. The MTSS process is flexible and designed to meet the needs of students.
